Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:6
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 2:20
REFLECTION
Have you ever faced loss in your life? Perhaps it was losing someone dear to you, like a parent or child. Maybe it was the end of a relationship you believed would bring fulfilment. Or it could have been the collapse of a dream you chased, one that seemed to promise a meaningful life. These losses are each a death.
Throughout my years on this earth, I've encountered all of these losses. At times, these experiences left me completely drained—defeated, bewildered, helpless—as if recovery was impossible. I vividly recall a moment when the harsh truth of my lost dreams overwhelmed me. Life as I knew it was ending unexpectedly; everything I'd hoped for was slipping away. Grief consumed me. Standing in my bathroom, I removed my clothes and stepped into the shower, sobbing so uncontrollably that it felt as if my insides might spill out and wash down the drain. I honestly wasn’t sure if I could survive it.
That moment still impacts me. Looking back on loss, on the deaths in my life, I can see now that those experiences drew me closer to Jesus. Perhaps that is exactly why Jesus allows such deaths in our lives. It is in difficult seasons like these, when I feel empty, that I realize Jesus is true life.
Without Jesus real living is impossible.

Like an electrical current is 220 volts, we can only be empowered when we are connected to Jesus. Galatians 2:20 is a place for us to come for restoration. Jesus died. When we put our faith in Him, we are crucified with Him. Dying to self, dying to our ways of thinking, our plans, our desires, our dreams, our striving after finding true life. A dead person can do nothing to breathe new life into themselves.
When we come to that place of utter helplessness in our own strength, that is when we can see our need for Jesus. Then He comes and breathe His life, His resurrection power, into us. The outflow of that resurrection is a new life lived now in faith, not for ourselves, but for Him who gave Himself up for us.
Jesus is THE LIFE.
Prayer
Gracious Lord Jesus, in moments of death, loss and emptiness, draw me close to Your heart. When life feels overwhelming and dreams have died, remind me that true life is found in You alone. Help me to surrender my plans and desires, trusting in Your resurrection power to bring new hope and purpose. Fill me with faith to live each day, not for myself, but for You who gave everything for me. Restore my spirit, renew my strength, and lead me in the path of true life. Amen.
