REFLECTION
by Mary Alice McGinnis
Do you have a particular memory that stands out in your life? A pivotal moment when things changed. Perhaps everything you had known in the previous pages of your life was coming undone right before your eyes.
I’ve had such a time. My life was coming unraveled. Rumors about my family were running rampant. What’s worse? Most of them were true. The public shame was crushing. It was clear that we had to uproot our lives and depart in disgrace. All my life’s dreams were shattered into a million pieces.
As I sat in my living room with my head cradled in my hands, I sobbed uncontrollably. I wailed so loudly that I felt like my insides were going to heave out. I could not catch my breath. It felt as though my tears were such a vast ocean that I would surely drown in them.
In my anguish, I questioned, “God, how could you allow this to happen? If you really love me, where are you?”
Do you have times where you question, “Does God really love me?” Maybe your past haunts you. Maybe present circumstances seem overwhelmingly painful. Maybe the future seems uncertain and hopeless.
God describes Himself as the One who IS and WAS and IS TO COME! The One called “Yahweh” - the Great I AM - is eternal and unchanging.

As I sobbed in my living room that day, I lifted my head to take a breath. My gaze was drawn to a picture of Jesus on my wall. I visualized myself crawling up into Jesus’ lap. He picked me up and wrapped me in His loving arms. He whispered to me, “I have not forsaken you. I have ahold of you and won’t ever let you go.”
If find yourself questioning God, if you ever need PROOF of God’s love for you, don’t fix your eyes on your current circumstances. Fix your eyes instead on THIS pivotal moment in time. The God of all ages came into our world in the flesh. He came for you!
“To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve His God and Father—to Him be glory and power forever and ever! Amen.” Revelation 1:5

Be assured. Jesus is also coming back!
“Look, He is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him.”
Jesus, who perfectly loves us has sovereign control over everything – past, present, and future. He who has both infinite power and unchanging love holds you in His Almighty arms.
Prayer – In my darkest days, Lord, draw me closer to You. Keep my eyes focused and my heart centered on what You have done for me. Don't ever let me forget that the day is coming when You will return and I will be in Your Almighty arms forever.
