REFLECTION
by Mary Alice McGinnis
Imagine an unspeakably great treasure. What does it look like? Do you imagine it sparkling? Its splendor is so bright that you must shade your eyes from its brilliance.
What is the greatest treasure in all creation? Its radiance is like the brightest sunrise that cuts through the darkness of night.
'For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
Jesus is that priceless treasure, more glorious, majestic, and radiant than we can fully comprehend. God invites us to know more and more of His magnificent glory, in the face of Jesus Christ. His glory was never more brilliant than when He chose to die a criminal’s death in our place and put on eternal display His incredible love for us.
How does God chose to package His extravagant treasure? How does He choose to put the brilliance of His Son, Jesus, on display?

In common jars of clay. Earthen vessels. Pots that are frail and easily shattered. Ordinary human beings like us. Why?
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
When we are hard pressed on every side, this treasure, the glorious love of Jesus Christ, shines most radiantly.
Are you feeling hard pressed, perplexed, victimized, and beaten down?
Know this.
Knowing the One who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead, will also raise YOU from it all! With this glorious treasure, Jesus Christ, living in your heart, you will NEVER be crushed, never given in to despair, never abandon, never destroyed. The power of the resurrected Jesus will keep you safely in His love into eternity.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, when I am feeling crushed, perplexed, victimized, and beaten down, remind me that You live inside me. You die to crush the head of evil and death. Now, even though I am a frail jar of clay, I can never be destroyed. Use my seemly ordinary life to put Your unspeakably great treasure, the face of Jesus, on display.
